About Me

2017-18 will be my seventh year teaching at Helena High. I am also a graduate of HHS–class of 2002!

At Helena High, I have taught English IV:C (British Literature and Mythology) since 2011, Science Fiction since 2012, and I am taking on AP Language for the first time this year. I also taught English II from 2011-2017.

Outside of regular school hours, I am an assistant coach for the Speech and Debate team, with a particular focus on Interpretation events and Memorized Public Address. In addition, in 2016-17 I established the HHS Travel Club with a lot of help from Mr. Hussey. The group traveled to the UK and Ireland with Education First (EF) Tours over Spring Break, but sadly I was not be able to go with them on this inaugural trip, as my daughter was only about three months old! In 2017-18, we will be raising money and recruiting a new group of students to visit France, Germany, and the Alps, and this time I may be able to travel.

This summer was a big one for me: My fiance and I tied the knot the day after I got all my grades turned in, and we took our 7 month old daughter with us on a honeymoon to the Oregon Coast.  It was her first time seeing the ocean, and it was nice to have a break from the 100F temperatures we had at home at that time.  Although I am sorry to leave behind all the time I was able to spend with my little one during the summer, I think she is looking forward to bonding with her new friends at daycare, as I am looking forward to getting back to the structure of school and meeting my new classes.

My Education:

Master’s Degree (M.Ed.) in Education from the University of Oregon, Eugene

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in English Literature from the University of Montana, Missoula

High School Diploma from Helena High
